In recognition of the Scottish Tourism Careers Festival 2012 All Glasgow City Council Primary Schools are invited to participate in The Design a Canapé Menu, Challenge 2012 The winning school will join us at a reception at Glasgow City Chambers as our VIP guests

Register your school for this easy-to-enter competition and win an invitation to the City Chambers as guests of Cordia (Services) LLP and Springboard Scotland

The List of Prizes for the Winning Team includes:

• A VIP visit to the City Chambers
• A Cookery Masterclass with Cordia Head Chef, Robert Hutchison
• Making the winning canapés under the expert guidance of Cordia Chef, George Baird
• Attendance at a special reception where the winning team will serve their canapés to guests
• A starring role in a special feature article on the Scottish Tourism Festival Website
• A specially designed trophy presented to the school
• Chefs hats and aprons for each pupil
• A specially designed commemorative certificate and goody bag for each pupil

Entries are invited from: Teams of up to six, Primary 7 pupils

Your culinary challenge is to:

• design the canapé menu
• the menu should describe in detail 6 different canapés (although the actual recipes for the canapés chosen are not required at this stage)
• graphics may also be submitted to further illustrate an entry
• schools are invited to submit as many teams as they wish and each team may submit more than one entry

The Judges A panel of culinary experts will judge the entries. The criteria used for assessment will include:

• variety
• presentation
• creativity and imaginative flair
• The decision of the judges is final

The closing date for entries is Friday 18 May 2012. Description of a Canapé

Canapés by definition are small finger sized bites of food sometimes consisting of a thin slice of bread or toast. For the purposes of this competition the canapés chosen need not necessarily include either bread or toast.

This competition is open to teams of six Primary 7 pupils from Glasgow City Council Primary Schools. The winning team members will be invited to attend the event to be held at the City Chambers in June 2012. Date to be confirmed.
